MATAGALPA,
NICARAGUA
Pure Kakaw
PROFILE
Nicaragua, the largest country in Central America, is nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. In its mountainous north lies the Matagalpa region, renowned for its fertile lands, thriving coffee farms, and misty cloud forests.
Pure Kakaw’s first step in sharing Origin Cacao with the world is named after the region where the single farm they source from is located.
With its creamy texture, full-bodied taste, and grounding effects, this cacao is rich and silky — some would even call it decadent.

MAKING PROCESS
The cacao beans used to make Pure Kakaw’s Matagalpa are organically grown and cultivated using agroforestry practices.
The farm is nestled in the mountains, surrounded by cloud forests teeming with diverse birds and wildlife.
After harvesting, the beans are fermented, dried, lightly roasted, and then stone-ground on-site to produce the cacao paste — a rare, fully traceable bean-to-paste process that happens right where the trees grow.
The whole process is kept minimal to preserve nutrients while revealing the cacao’s subtle, layered aromas.

REMARKS
Matagalpa draws you in.
The first impression is a comforting feeling coming from its aroma—a rich, chocolate-forward scent with layers of coconut and coffee. It’s an enveloping warmth, subtle but immediate, that encourages you to slow down and settle into the moment.
Within minutes—often just half a cup—the shift becomes noticeable. The mind begins to quiet. There’s a grounded heaviness in the head, like mental static being gently muffled. The body feels lighter by contrast, yet anchored, inviting stillness and focus.
This isn’t a jolt or a rush—it’s a soft descent into clarity.
“I feel tuned in, like I can concentrate on one thing without the usual mental noise. My thoughts quiet down and I become more intentional with what I’m doing.
I love having this cacao when I’m on my period—the richness really supports my body, and it eases the discomfort. It’s like being wrapped in a warm cocoon.”
— Romane
Matagalpa invites introspection. It’s the kind of presence that makes you want to sink into a book, let a playlist carry you, or simply stay with yourself for a while.
